It seems to be on the forum that the majority of piggy slaves prefer fleece to woodshavings so after some research we've decided to take the plunge and convert to fleece. We have come up with the combination of a recycled cardboard base layer (bedxcel) topped with a layer of absorbent towel with the fleece on top. Yesterday we washed all the new fleeces before using them today and have attached a couple of piccys. We know we are like any other piggy slaves but we think our neutered boar Ouzo looks stunning against the bright pink fleece x)

It has got to be better for you than having to keep hoovering sawdust up when it treads around the houserolleyes
However it won't stay looking neat and tidy as in the piccies when the piggies have been in it for a day or so.:))

It looks lovely and shows up your piggies a treat. Too labour intensive for me though. I'll stick to newspaper and Fitch bedding. :)

Whoo, loving the colour choices! Keep us up to date with how you're getting on with the fleece. Your piggies certainly look as though they like it!

Hi do you use fitch for your guinea pigs? Just wondering what you think of it and how much you need to clean it out? Any advice would be much appreciated as I'm interested in using fitch bedding for my two girls but not many people seem to be using it for their piggies. xx

So far so good. The piggies seem to like it a lot :(|) It's only now we realise how much they are walking pooping machines ;) At present we are doing the hourly poop alert, and it has now become Ali's responsibility to remove offending items from the cages, as I (Lisa), as much as I love my piggies, refuse this duty! ") Although our piggy couple are absolutely loving the large hay loft as they are now burrowing their way into the middle and then eating their way out, it's like a scene from alien ;)

Glad it's still going well for you. I gave up with fleece on the notion that it was too hard to fit into the ferplast without certain pigs burying underneath and making a mess. I now use recycled cardboard bedding (Finacard with changing pads, and then newspaper underneath) and it works well.

Early days yet... xx

Thanks for letting us know how your getting on, we too have just moved to fleece for the newbies and Cookie, Cookie previous lived on wood shavings but the new c&c is too big for shavings I think. Although to be honest I'd prefer it, we have always got on with shavings without issue...still fleece seems to be working and everypig seems comfortable.

Gorgeous piggies by the way x)
