After boarding our boys in Crumpets holiday home in North London in this cage, we decided it was time that they got upgraded and ordered it as soon as we got home!

It's a Rosewood Flora 750 http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=813&pf_id=58497 two tiers each measuring 120cm length x59 width. It's total is 102cm tall.

We bought it from Pet Planet - it was on offer for £73 which is a bargain, normal price is £105. We did have to wait just under two weeks for it, but it was worth it for that price!

The ramp that came with it was, as many of them seem to be, much too steep, and even though we were told that they both were using it when they were boarding, Audrey was really struggling with it, and when we put him at the top he took a few steps down and jumped :-( Even brave Marilyn was really struggling and basically sliding down and scrambling up. We bought a ramp tunnel from cosy cavvies which I cannot recommend highly enough, they love it! Not only can they easily and safely get from downstairs to upstairs they really enjoy using it, and sleeping next to it! We have also tied string around one of the ramp groves and through the cage bars to stop it moving around.

My OH made a mezzanine level out of a £1 cut off of wood from b+q making some small holes and using tie wraps, in order to lift the ramp up. It also gives them some shelter underneath without taking up floor space.

I don't think that it is THE best quality cage, the hole that is cut off on the second level looks a bit roughly cut, it could be a little bit sturdier, and it would benefit from a larger opening on the bottom level, but generally we are really happy with it, and the boys are clearly enjoying having two levels to explore, for us it was a great buy!

We use fleece on the top level with newspaper and towel underneath, the fleeces are pet fleeces from Asda, on the bottom level we use newspaper with small piles of sawdust in the corners and under the hay rack. We previously had all sawdust in their old cage, but after reading on the forum some of the effects of sawdust we now just use very small amounts. We wrap small pieces of fleece around newspaper for them to sleep under the mezzanine level and their hidey hammock (which they don't use as a hammock, but they do love hiding in!). I generally do a spot clean and replace some of the paper in the morning, and replace all the paper in the evening. We clean the whole thing with pet cage cleaner and water once a week - it is a two man job!

The hidey hamock is from pimpmypiggy, the chair is from equinecaninefeline (we have a bed too which we alternate with when washing). We have two hay racks and two bottles and two food bowls - the boys used to bicker quite a lot, but they have definitely calmed down now they have more space.

Below are some photos of our set up!

We started with the chair downstairs but it was taking up too much space so we moved it upstairs.

Your two boys are certainly spoiled!

Oh that last picture is lovely. They look like they are really enjoying their new cage.

Thanks all :-) Obviously we'd love to give them more room like some of the amazing c+c cages I've seen on here, but we're living in quite a small flat at the moment. One day we'll build them their mansion! They get lots of floor time and outside time on lovely days like today.

I love their 'guinea street' sign too- my OH surprised me with it, they are South London Guineas now- no doubt!

Oh wow, love it! Lucky piggies! The 'guinea street' sign did make me chuckle! :))

That's fantastic ! :)
Nothing like being able to lounge around whilst snacking on your hay :))
and it's very cute the waiting to use the tunnel pic x)

That sign is awesome x)

In the one shot the Evening Register story was interesting, about treatment for MS sufferers by growing the patient's stem cells. . . . I, too, have MS and that is the first I have heard of that, if I'm not too old I might be interested. Oh, the GUINEA PIG in the picture. . . . they all look quite happy in the setup, and seeing it gives me ideas about what I can do with Redemption's very tall cage as right now he's living on the floor of it and all the space above is wasted. Thanks for showing the new home.

cage

Hi, are you still happy with this cage? One of my daughters two piggies was pregnant when we bought them, (we didn't know this at the time), she has now had two babies. Would the cage be big enough for four piggies? Are yours fully grown piggies? It looks a a tight squeeze with the tunnel ramp, I would like to get one but don't want it to only last five minutes. Also does it stop them falling through the hole where the ramp is? I'm a bit worried they might fall through if they knock each other! One last question, where is the guinea street sign from? I love it!
Thanks ever so much

you have some very lucky piggies i love the one where there chilling on there sofa.

Late reply!

Hi I'm really sorry, I only just saw these replies! It's probably much too late now, but for what it's worth...

Am I still happy with it? Yes I'm really pleased we got it, their behaviour has improved towards each other and they definatley seem much happier and livelier. *I wouldnt say that it is the best quality cage, but you do get what you pay for! My sister got the essegi cage the same size for her two girls, and that sounds better quality to be honest- bigger door openings, less steep ramp, it already has the platform built in, and it comes on a stand, but all in all I'm pretty pleased with this one, and would recommend it if your on a budget.**

If it's big enough for 4 I'm not so sure, others could probably advise you better. I know 120cm is the minimum length required for 2 piggies, and this is twice as big, I think it would be ok for babies, but I just don't know about four fully grown pigs.

Mine are nearly fully grown, and the ramp tunnel isn't a*tight*squeeze at all-they*cross*each*other*in*there*sometimes!**It almost completely fills the opening- I can't see how they would fall through, although I suppose it is possible, it's unlikely, and much safer than having nothing at all!*

And lastly...the sign my boyfriend made for us (he's *a graphic designer), he also made a 'keep calm and*rumblestrut'*poster for our fridge!*
Xx

My girls used to have this house :) But then I rescued another and it was a bit small :) You have very cute pigwigs :) xx

Love the setup and the chicken leg x) drool

Loved looking at your set-up drool
Lots of thought and creativity has gone into it all, it's lovely to see them enjoying new living conditions, well done to the sign-writer. Your fridge sign sounds brilliant.
