Hi guys n gals, well i was round this petshop about 5 minutes from me not been in for over a year, and when as soon as i walked in a saw 3 baby guinea pigs about 5 weeks old so scared they all were trying to hide under each other, and its not a big pet shop its a family run 1 so they wernt even any hay for them to hide under, and right beside them in another cage was 2 adult guinea pigs a would say and either 2 or 3 years old they were massive long haired ones and they're nails seemed so long, and what else did i find? 2 rabbits about 2 year old unwanted scared to death, and more or less all they're animals were old and some young ones, but this petshop is quiet sad. but i couldn't take any of the guinea pigs, i have 2 already and they are both in seperate cages they don't get along with each other and i wasn't chancing it to buy another cage that i can't afford.:(

I feel the same to the extent I cant really go into some shops now because its too upsetting.... I know I am just burying my head in the sand ....and they are there whether I see them or not..... but its just my way of coping I guess...

As you say ....we cant take them all.... and taking them leaves the pet shop room to bring in more anyway... so the problem never goes away.... rolleyes

Perhaps you could contact the local council to express your distaste in the way the animals are being kept? Shops that sell animals need a licence from the council so they may go out and check up on the shop?
Or perhaps you could put some leaflets about guinea and rabbit welfare through their postbox as education for them?
It makes me sick thinking of animals like this :)>>>
