Hi everyone.

I recently lost my handsome little man Jaffa around 2 weeks ago.

His little friend has been left behind.

Fudge is believed to have Osteodystrophy (satins disease). He’s fed through a syringe due to the disease effecting his jaw & is on painkillers which he has twice a day.

Since Jaffa passed, fudge hasnt changed much at all. He’s been eating much the same, if not more & he’s been perky and happy.

However, when I look at him sitting in the cage all on his own I can’t help but feel sad for him.

He has a stuffed guinea pig Teddy which sits in the cage in his bed but I feel as though I'm being cruel by wanting to keep him on his own.

I’m aware that guinea pigs love to have a companion, but I’m worried that introducing a new friend could cause distress & have the opposite effect on fudge.

What should I do?

Aw dear little Fudge, what a cutie. There is a couple of good rescues near you in the North East perhaps you could send them an email, state you have a bereaved piggie and if they will offer you dating. that is the safest way really as it gives Fudge a chance to choose someone he likes so enhances the compatibility of the pair greatly

He’s such a good boy taking his feed. 😍. Bless him.

I am no expert, but I imagine the support you give Fudge because of his challenges must have created a strong bond between you both. And while he has you and seems to be coping with the passing of Jaffa, you may have time to work out what is best for Fudge.

If he could am sure Fudge would tell you right now how much he loves you and appreciates everything you do for him.

He is a very handsome boy.

Normally of course I'm all for finding a new friend ASAP. But Fudge's condition makes me worry about stress more...who knows, the stress of being without another pig could be just as harmful. So hard to say.

Ive only dealt with a bereaved pig once. She was alone for a month before we found a friend. Sounds like you're doing everything you can for now 💕
