Hi everyone,
I just brought my pigs a new run and they went into it for the first time today! Obviously I have attatched a water bottle on the side but, they don't seem to be drinking from it. I have figured this is because they don't know it's there. I'm worried that they may become dehydrated! How can I get them to find it and know that it's there?
Any help appreciated

I don't bother with a water bottle as they never seem to drink from it either. They'll know it's there, they know where their cage one is. The grass has some water in it anyway (all the nutrients and the soft texture) so they're hydrated from that. Hope this helps :(|)

Ok thanks for that. That's stopped me worrying quite so much! (I'm such a worrier when it comes to my piggies!) Thanks again. X

I always have a water bottle near the food bowl, so when I ever put my pigs on the lawn, I again put them both near each other so the piggies know. I always think that if they want a drink they would find it :)

You could always try putting a water dish in for them, but this would need changing even more than a water bottle (especially when outside as it may get dust in it etc.).

I never thought of putting a food bowl out when their in the run as they have the grass to eat but maybe I'm wrong?

Ok thanks I will deffo try this when they are out next time. Although today they didn't seem thirsty at all when they went back into their hutch after about 2-3 hours out in the run (even though they hadn't touched their water bottle!) I think it's because, as said in another post, they get water from the grass. Thanks for your help. XX

When I move the water bottle I tap the ball bearing with my finger to rattle it and make water come out. The pigs come over to see the noise and I let them lick the water off my finger. I do this a few times until they realise I'm getting the water from the spout. After that they work out that they can rattle it themselves. :)

i always have the water bottle in the same corner the bottom left lol they find it straight away
