Please cross everything for our chunky monkey Rocket, http://www.flickr.com/photos/48805774@N04/6836668054/
he's going to be neutered tomorrow.
We've been planning to sort him out for sometime because we always knew he'd probably outlive Wally Whiskers by a long way 8... and I just can't adopt anymore beautiful boys right now. My heart's been broken three times in less than a year.
I think Rocket would love to live with the girls ( Moonpig and Olivia aka Mouse), he's always trying to figure out ways to get to them. rolleyes

As he needs to wait 6 weeks after the op before he can be with them I really didn't see that there was any point waiting, I know it seems coldly pragmatic of me to book him in the same day I had our beautiful Wally Whiskers pts 8... but I don't want him to be alone any longer than he has to be. We would have had him neutered before now if we hadn't spent so much time at the vets over the last 4 months with Yoshi and Wallace.8...

I've sorted his hospital cage out in the lounge so that he can be close to us and not feel so lonely and I'm hoping that getting it done while he's a bit subdued will work in his favour because he usually bounces around so much I think he'd rip his stitches within an hour of getting home.
Lots of positive vibes please, we're all a bit emotionally fragile at the moment and need some happy wheekiness.
Thanks. x

Good luck Rocket. I can understand you wanting him with the girls. It will be lovely for them all to be together like a little family. I am so sorry for all you are going through.

Fingers firmly crossed for Rocky! You are certainly due some good luck for once!

You have made your decision out of consideration for Rocky's future happiness. I had to make a similar decision to find a successor and - as none of my local rescues happened to have a neutered boar - have him neutered after Llewelyn had been diagnosed with a big inoperable tumor in his abdomen. It is tough!

Good luck Rocket, I've got Rebel due in next month for his op. I can't watch him constantly as he's always trying to do rudies with Lola and Angel. I think I may be too late though, following an incident I reported in another topic! :(

Good luck for tomorrow Rocket. You have been so brave Andrea, I will be sending lots of positive vibes for you all tomorrow x

Good luck for rocket today. Hope you are ok x x x

Took him in first thing this morning along with his teddybear and a packed lunch with lots of treats to tempt him when he wakes up. Just waiting for some news from the vet now.

The waiting is the worst... he'll love his packed lunch and he's got an amazing mummy to look after him when he gets home x

Aw, bless him, i am sure he'll be just fine, home running you raggid before you know it.

He is such a gorgeous boy, i think after 6 weeks he should come and live with my toffee :)) xx

The waiting is the worst... I always HATE that bit!

Fingers firmly crossed for Rocket!

Just been in touch with the vets. He's fine :laluot_11:
Acting like nothing has happened and stuffing his face :aJFBQ00147070110B:
I can pick the little monkey up in a couple of hours. What a relief. :laluot_23:

Woohoo, good lad Rocket! I'm sure the weeks will fly by and you will have a happy herd on your hands!

So glad all went well. Funnily enough we had Alvin "done" yesterday too - was the longest day of my life! Like Rocket the vet nurse said he was chomping almost straight away and he has been stuffing himself ever since! I hope Rocket continues to make a speedy recovery, both boys are going to be in their element in a couple of months time:(|)

They will be very happy boys. :(|)

He hasn't stopped eating yet...finished ALL of his packed lunch at the vets ( I'd put a variety of things to tempt him, never thinking he'd scoff the lot! ), the nurses had picked him a load of dandelions too for the journey home :))
Got home and he proceeded to wolf down a load of carrot top leaves and then make a start on his dandelion chew treat. rolleyes
It's a welcome distraction to have something to smile about when there's so much sadness and loss to cope with.

How is Rocket doing today? Alvin seems to be ok (frantically touching wood) and is still eating for England bless him. Hope all going well for your boyx)

How's Rocket today? Hope everything is okay x

He's fine thanks ( touchwood) keeping him in his hospital cage for 10 days to limit excessive bouncing about and changing his fleece every day to keep things nice and clean. Sooooooooooooo hoping his stitches stay nice and clean. Like Alvin he's eating for Britain. ;)
Still a bit subdued but I think that's got a lot more to do with him missing Wally Whiskers 8... than being miserable about his op, he seems happier to have cuddles than he's ever been before, bless him. They were very close so I'd have been surprised if he wasn't affected by Wally's passing.
