We had a chip shop go on fire up are road. There was alot of smoke. We have closed are windows. But we can feel it in the back of are throuts.

Is there anything we can do to make sure are piggys are OK they seem fine. But is there a danger of something happening to them.

I am very sorry. What a worry for you.

Guinea pigs have very small and much more sensitive airways. Keep them as close to the floor as possible as smoke rises and as far as possible from any windows, especially on the side of the fire/wind side.
Look for any air vents in the flat where more smoke can come in (shower, cooker etc.) and cover them up. You have done the most important bit by closing the windows.

Unfortunately there is at this stage nothing more you can do as you do not have access to untainted air.

Please see a vet promptly if your guinea pig are looking off or are losing their appetite.

Thankfully they are on the floor. I've a Air purifier on full blast.

The building has stopped smoking now. But there is still a stench in the air.

Hopefully all my animals are OK.

Hamsters. Drawf and syrain. Gerbils. Degus..

Degus are closest to the window

Those little flaps you can open and close on double glazing if you have it. Close them asap the little vents.

I set fire to my microwave a few years back. Couldnt see through the smoke in hallway. I quickly ran and shut the living room door where my guineas and gerbils are, and then unplugged the microwave, and chucked it outisde, luckily the firw was contained inside the microwave, the smoke set the carbon monoxide alarm off. Not good lol.

All my animals were fine, it was the gerbils i was most worried about with smoke

It is going to take time for the stench to disperse; it all depends on the wind strength and direction.

I am sure that you'll give everything a good airing once it is safe to do so. ;)
