Just heard some fireworks going off already. For my cats i just draw the curtains and turn up the tele. What about my piggies will they get upset with the loud bangs? what do you do when the fireworks start.

Dam things should be banned :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

if the piggies are inside, most of them wont actually be affected.

if they are outside, by november they should be in hutches anyway. most people just give them an extra amount of hay to cuddle into, and some even put duvets on top and around the cages/hutches as to muffle the sound.

also, please ask your neighbours not to let the fireworks off directly next to your shed / hutch, but be considerate and let them off a bit further away.

Most piggies can easily be distracted with a bit of extra lettuce and parsley though...

My piggies were fine last year. Didn't have Buttons then so this will be his first time. Our dog is more affected by them. Wish they would ban fireworks from being sold to the public >:(

we have had fireworks going off most weekends all through the year,it doesnt help that there is a firework shop in carlisle that is open all year round

My piggies dont mind the fireworks :o ;D ;D

Harry kept running around in circles popcorning on fire works last year ;D ;D Stuuupid pig ;D ;D

My dog JJ on the other hand HATES them! He tried to dig under you and hide there.....very very funny as hes a pekingese, and has a flat face and really short legs ;D ;D ;D ;D

I think that there should be a certain few days a year to do fireworks, and if people want to set them off another time in the year, for a birthday, anniversary etc, they should have to get a days license....

It takes the pee when they are constantly going off for 4 months around this time of year ::)
Theres always one that does it at a really stupid time like the 3rd Jan, and you think, whyyyyyyyyy? >:( ::) ;D

I would bring all old, ill and baby piggies inside when they start going off and just keep them in cardboard boxes with towels in :)

I know what you mean, people round here just take the biscuit! I heard them going off at 7 in the morning the other day, what use is that? You can't even see them! Idiots. >:( lol!

May as well have just thrown £50 in to the wind ::) ;D ;D

This will be the first year i'll have both my buns and piggies at fire works time so I'm kinda worried how they'll be :-\

My pigs don't seem to mind noise. At first I used to take Cuzzy upstairs when I hoovered but he popcorns when he hears it now 98) Not sur about fireworks they haven't started here. I did have loads but gave them all the my window cleaner yesterday for the pigs sake!

Fireworks should only be sold to schools and that not just random people! when I had speedy and snuggles i was sitting outside with them, I put extra hay and everything, even one of my teddies b'coz they are fond of it. I ended up bringing them inside! They where sqeaking loudly because they where outdoor piggies! It affects my dog too. he runs under the table or in the cuboard. I dont know how though he's a greyhound! but my guinea's now patchy and toby this is their first fireworks! luckily they are inside! All through the fireworks I'm probably going to sit with tem and watch the fireworks through my window! hopefully out nextdoor neighbours wont do fireworks again! they ened up shooting the into out garden last year!

Schools and pleaces like that only should be allowed fireworks unless you have a licsnecse! or however u spell it!*

I always go to council displays on Bonfire Night. I think they should be banned and only allowed by people with proper qualifications to use them like councils.

My thoughts exactly!

My girls are like once you've seen one firework you've seen them all! I'm more excited by it then them. I love bonfire night but worry about the animals. I'd gladly give bonfire night up if it meant that animals would be safer!

:)

fireweorks are a waste of money - dont get me wrong they are nice to see and that but it just stresses out animals :-\ And i have heard animal abuse to with fireworks its just sickening !

My uncle spends thousands on them each year ! I'm like what is the point ? ::)

My baby piggy died last year on firework night porr baby ! He was in a shed too and was only 4 weeks old :'(

I think my love on bonfire night stems from when I was a child and we would collect loads of wood and have the mother of all bonfires come Nov 5th! It was fab, we never had fireworks and adults supervised. Now kids try to burn shopping trollies 98) it aint gonna happen!

Will have at least the boys in the shed come Nov 5th so will bring them in for the night. It is usually quiet around here before then but before the ban was inplace we were hearing them in August! So pleased that most of them have stopped now!

Same here I just walked the dog and someone is letting them off the other side of the park luckily the dogs not bothered she comes out with us on bonfire night. We also saw a hedgehog biggest one I've ever seen

Yeah they are going off here again. Checked on Piggies they are fine muffling the noise with their duvet ontop of the hutch. Bless them. Poor Holly and Ruby (cats) not too happy. :tickedoff:

I think they were going off because its Ramadam I am going to ask a lady at school tomorrow ;) I know close to bonfire night there is a religious festival of light and the go off like crazy then. Feel sure the ones going off are to do with Ramadam though. Ours have stopped for now bet they start going off again now ::)

i agree fireworks should only be sold to properly trained people putting on displays for special occasions. those things are dangerous. luckily all my piggys are inside but I'm worried about my rabbits. think they mite have to live in an empty indoor cage for a few nites at bonfire time.

My rabbit and guinea pigs never seem affected by fireworks. They all live outside, some in a shed and some outside the shed. When fireworks go off I always go out to check on them but they are all just behaving normally. Our neighbours have let fireworks off very close to them and even that didn't bother them. The only animals I have to worry about is my cats. They really hate them.
