Fireworks!

They seem extra loud this year and my poor piggies are hating it! Everything goes quiet for a little while and then there's another series of huge bangs. They're both snuggled up together in the same hidey, which is something they NEVER do, poor things Wouldn't come out when I topped up their hay, usually they're out the instant they hear the bag rustling. I've closed the curtains and put a blanket over half the cage and I've been sitting with them talking to them and telling them I won't let anyone hurt them but they are NOT HAPPY. I don't know what else I can do.

You’re doing all the right things, especially sitting and talking to them.
We have some very loud fireworks going off here too and unfortunately a lot of animals will be very unhappy.

I've been playing music, as I can't play it loud enough to cover all the bangs without scaring the piggies more I've been singing along and chatting to the piggies as well. 4 of mine have been in hiding all evening and teeth chattering at the louder bangs. Caspy who we knew was deaf (has just proved he must be deafer than we thought) has been having floor time, eating hay and drinking as normal without the slightest fear!
