i want to add some Critical care & Recovery care to my first aid kit.
Where would I buy them from, & what instances should I use them?

I got my critical care from amazon:

I got recovery plus from the vets but my poorly pig didnt like it at all. Either way they both do the same thing so you dont need both. You only need to use it if your pigs not eating at all or if they are losing weight and you think this may be due to them not eating enough. Make sure to feed a vitamin c supplement too if they are not eating at all. Oh and make sure that you have syringes in ready to feed with- hopefully youll never need it but its always best to be prepared.

Probiotics, Recovery Foods And Vitamin C: Overview With Product Links

All products are available at a number of providers online; you have to search around for the currently cheapest one or if somebody has a special deal.

Generally you use probiotics when your guinea pig is on antibiotics or off its food.
Extra vitamin C won't hurt when it is fighting any illness to give its immune system a boost.
Recovery formula (on its own, or mixed with mushed pellets in order to make it taste more familiar) comes into play when a piggy goes off its food and is losing weight. Please start offering extra feed whenever you notice that a piggy is not eating properly (including hay) and has lost 50g or more - of course, that is combined with a vet visit.

You might like to have a little poke in our "Caring for an ill guinea pig" section. We have got a number of guides that deal with the home care side of an ill guinea pig to support it while and until it is getting medical treatment.
