Hi, I've bathed my to piggies today for the first time. I think they found it as stressful as me! I'm worried I haven't dried them off enough.......I towel dried them...once with a towel and then with a micro fleece one (meant to take the excess water off), but every time I was rubbing them they were shaking. I also gave them a blast with the hairdryer (on the lowest setting obviously). They are munching away now....but should I leave them for a while and try to give them another rub over? They are nearly 3 and this is there first bath.....I adopted them and I know they didn't have one with their previous owners. I know I'm probably panicking too much.....but I don't want to make them ill! Oh and another point they are indoors so not out in the cold/wind.
Sounds fine to me. I normally use kitchen paper to take the excess water then wrap them in warm towels, like babies and keep them warm, I then given them some room temp cucumber as a treat whilst they sit in their towels...a little while later, depending, sometimes hair dryer, sometimes a rub with a warmed towel and out them back into their clean cage with plenty of snuggle items.
They'll be fine as long as the room they are in is warm, I check their temperature by touching their ears. Mine can shiver whilst in their towels, they soon stop.
Naturally they will be a bit weirded out as its their first time.
Mine, especially violet still squirms now but she knows the routine and recognises the sounds of bath time.
