My 2 9 month old boars are having their first bath this weekend, gorgeousguineas mask and shampoo has arrived really quickly and advice from Chrissie was excellent regarding what to buy.

Boys are pretty big, one weighing 1kg, the other 1300g, any advice on bathing methods? I’m thinking in a washing up bowel inside a shower cubicle so they can’t escape or get hurt if I do lose my grip on them. Options also include shower head application or taking the shower off and just running the piggie under the mixertap bit.

I know they are going to hate me, will make sure I have plenty of their favourite herbs in.

What I do is fill the bathroom sink up of water (not too hot or cold) and then I put pig in the bath with the plug in. I get a jug and tip it over the pig. The bath will slowly fill up, the pig won't get stressed and there underneath is cleaned that way too. :)

I've got to get some stuff from gorgeous guineas, I'm making some hampers for the pigguns for christmas and want to include some items from there.

Hope they have fun!

I put a towel in the bath to stop slipping and put about 3" of water in the bath.once lathered up i then take the plug out and rinse with warm water from a jug.towel dry and then blow dry with a hair dryer on luke warm setting

I do it on the kitchen side and use the mixer tap to rinse, I find I do it quickly and carefully that way and dont get water in the ears or eyes.
You could use the bathroom or just a bowl on the floor so they dont jump good luck O0

I do what Sokel does except I dont put any water in the bath initally, I wet them and rinse with a jug and lukewarm water :)

Well, they had their first bath yesterday. :D

1 was ok, sat there pretty quietly while he was supported in the washing up bowel under the shower, the other one went mental, jumped out of the washing up bowel onto my lap as soon as the shower touched him.

Bang went my idea of staying fairly dry! ::) Oh well, think they are all done, coco-neme mask smells horrid but was quite nice for their skin, shampoo lathered up quickly and washed out well.

Plenty of salad used afterwards for bribery, they still haven't forgiven me though.

Found little scabs on Scampy though (they were bathed due to a recent bout of mites), I hope that the shower has got rid of any remaining ones, not looking forward to doing it again!

Oh dear yes baths are not always popular in piggie land :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:
I also use bribery to placate afterwards, mmmm i too still get the filthy look for quite awhile ::) ;D ;D ;D
Gee i hope the bath has helped the scabs on Scampy tho, what a worry :-\ Good luck O0 :smitten: :smitten:

well my piggies actually love bath time, i think its cuz they know they are going to feel my hair dryer on them afterwards he he

I have bathed Harry tonight ready for him going to his new home tomorrow ,He hated the bath and the hair dryer was even worse,so i had to towel dry him and let him dry himself on towels
