I think my girls are 6 or 7 months old now. I just gave them their first nail trim tonight. I really should have done it a month ago, but I was really nervous about it and kept putting it off. My husband 'supervised' and helped, but it went so well that I now have confidence and know I won't have any problem in the future. I didn't take very much off, so I'll probably do it again next week, but at least they don't have those baby 'points' any more. I understand about the nerve growing long when the nails are long, and shorter after they are cut...I'll start doing it very regularly now that my fears have been laid to rest so they stay nice and healthy. It was really very easy.

One girl, Honey Bee, my scared girl, was just frightened and frozen. Wasn't interested in the carrot bait, but stayed perfectly still...she got some nice cuddles after...but still wasn't interested in the carrot, until she was back in her cage, then she was back to her normal, hide in the pigloo, but drag the carrot in with there with her, self.

The other girl who is a squirmer and a huge foodie, was perfectly happy the whole time as long as her mouth was stuffed with carrot...she did make the funniest little pauses in her manic eating...she would lift her head up like...hmmmmmm...that's odd..for about one second, then back to...om nom nomm slurp....huh? my, what is that strange feeling...om nom, nom, chomp, slurp...wait....is someone touching my foot? well whatever....chomp, slurp, om nom nom...Hey, hooman, more carrot NOW! Out of carrot...fine then I am DONE WITH YOU, put me back in my cage RIGHT NOW! (she doesn't go in much for cuddles...just food.) Squirmy little girl...but such a fun girl who has a ton of character when she is in her cage, and talks to me all day for attention, well I think she just wants food, but most of the time, when I can resist giving her treats, she gets a little pat on the head or a nose kiss from me. She really would rather just have the treat xoxo

Yay - glad it went so well! That makes me feel better... I haven't had to do it yet - my boys are around 4.5 months so I have a month or so to go before their first trim. :... not looking forward to it. Glad it has made you feel more confident to trim them again next time. x

So pleased it went well, you'll not be as concerned now about doing them. :)
My girls are so good about their nails being clipped I don't have any worries with them.
