I have just found an amazing area near me that has lovely long untouched grass. It's a meadow that is on greenbelt land and is well hidden. I'm just off out with my scissors and bags to collect some!

My young girls have never had fresh grass before. The older 2 I'm not sure but they've never had any with me. Should I feed sparingly to begin with? How much do you think and how often?

Once I know what's best for them I will get some pics of them tucking in :)

I would just give a handful a day and then slowly increase it. I've never had a problem as my initial 3 tucked it with no side effects. However after daisy's first outing on the grass she got diarrhoea. That said I've never met such a greedy piggy

Yep, just go easy to begin with and build up to pretty much unlimited. They'll love it. You will get more poo but it's not as smelly I find.

What a great find.

I would start by following the guidelines here:
Feeding Grass And Preparing Your Piggies For Lawn Time

If they are anything like my lot they will go crazy for all that lovely fresh grass.

Thank you, didn't know there was a guide on the forum. Very helpful. Sadly I now think it may not be suitable. The guide mentions fox pee. I didn't even think of that. I was tying to avoid areas where dogs are walked and this is lovely but we have a lot of foxes round here and I have no way of knowing if they have been on this area. chances are that they have so I think it may be best to leave it :(

I've no idea how I will find any grass that hasn't had foxes near it. Winter is approaching now anyway so this was just going to be a treat. Maybe I will find somewhere by spring next year!

Slowly at first as said but remember to grab it while you can as grass will soon be past its best! Then life gets twice as expensive trying to keep them well fed without the free bounty! Mine have grass every day and will be really sad when it’s gone!

I take grass from places where it would be awkward for any animal to pee, for example, a steep slope or a raised mound, that sort of thing.

I once tried to access Dandelions from the river bank, slid down the slope and ended up with muddy wet feet! Squelched all the way home!

I pick grass for my three every day. It is in an area where dogs are walked so I wash it.
