I was thinking about when I first got Amelia Jane and peronel amend the silly things I did. I fed them all vegetables by hand as they would not eat alone. I gave them a whole romaine lettuce! I fed them museli and sat for hours sifting out the bits they did not like! I did such silly things. What kind of things did you all do or am I alone in my cluelessness!

A whole lettuce! I bet they loved you :))

We set up a video camera to see if Pitch and Putt ever came out, we never saw them out of there houses for 4 weeks!

Erm I can't really remember other than going into a massive panic and thinking the rescue had got the sexes wrong after seeing Queen Bea mounting poor little Bumble :))

When we first got our boys, we spent ages arranging their cage so that they had full access around hidies tunnels etc, only to find later they moved everything to suit themselves. rolleyes

We are in the process of "setting up" a timelapse web cam, to get a day in the life of piggies... :))

That's a great idea to film them over a day I bet it's really interesting. Or it would be for my two maniac piggies! Then again they would probably be aware of the camera and hide away just to be awkward lol.

Then only thing I regret about the care of ginger and Tom was probably not handling them enough, although they were the sweetest piggies you ever did meet, so tame and loving! So I must of done something right all them years ago! With the help of mum and dad of course :-) x

Timelapse! That'll be really cool!

I remember being terrified and thinking he was having a seizure when Nibbles first popcorned. My mum ran to get some books from the library while I craddled him in my arms and he gave me a funny look, but didn't seem to fussed about the nice cuddles! When we realised what it was and watched a youtube video of a piggy doing it we were relieved, if a little embarrassed!

One of the daft things we did in our early days of guinea pig ownership was to give them a huge pile of lettuce, thinking we were being kind - result, upset tummies, and us shamefacedly admitting to the vet that it was all our fault! Fortunately, the piggies got better with the help of some medicine, and nowadays we are strict to be kind!
Also, once or twice I bought those ridiculous so-called "treats" that are marketed as being suitable for guinea pigs - egg biscuits or something! The guineas were too sensible to eat them though, and just turned up their noses!

I never used to feed enought hay :( I never knew how much they needed and my mum never helped me so I had to find out on my own, eventually, but thankfully that was many years ago.
I have also been lured in by shop made treats lol

I remember getting my little Poggle out (he had been with us for about a week or 2) and cuddling him on my bed.. Stupidly when he seemed to settle down I let my guard down and loosened my cuddle around him, naturally he ran off into my bed. Thankfully I found him tangled in the sheets haha. That was the last time he had cuddles on my bed!
