The piggies can see into the kitchen from their run which is permanently attached to their hutch. They sit at the side of the run watching and wheeking every morning while I chop their veg up. MrS and I have been joking for the last couple of days about letting them out to see what they would do. It seems that, in joking, we have managed to talk ourselves into it and so with great trepidation this morning we opened the side of the run (I made sure we did this before MrS went to work just in case we had issues getting them back in.

We thought they would come into the kitchen because that is the home of the 'wheeky-bag'. They had a quick look but don't think they liked the presence of giant hoomans so they went for a jaunt around the coffee table in the lounge.

I then asked the questions 'whassthisforyou' (all one word in squeaky happiness) while showing them their bowl and instructions to 'go home' (have been using that for a while when I put them back after cuddles) and they hopped back into their run and got stuck into their breakfast.

I just CAN NOT WAIT until tomorrow morning!

Ok, so I couldn't wait until tomorrow. We have just had another 15minutes out which was all great fun until Toby decided he could fit under the hutch and wouldn't come out again. We had a bit of a panic but the wheeky-bag worked and they are now both safely locked up. Will wait until my nerves recover before trying again!

Here's some photos - sorry for the blur - posing was not a priority as they were too busy running and popcorning.

Aww I'm so glad they went back into the run for you. Good little fur balls!
I have tried your 'wheeky-bag' thing...they didn't like it much. They only wheek for pellet bowl shakes...which then they ignore if there are no veggies on top.

First time free ranging can be a stressful time full of "don't touch that!" "don't wee there!" and, of course "don't go under....get out from under there!"
haha! Glad they enjoyed themselves! :))

Oh it looks like they enjoyed themselves :) And your carpet is SO clean! I admire your house keeping skills ;)

hahaha! You should see the rest of the house! That is probably the cleanest spot because it gets hoovered every other day when I clean the piggies out.

Same here! I must have the cleanest hallway in England thanks to the messy ones!

Try mixing a Zoflora spray bottle together for little messes. I am now using it on EVERYTHING.

Free ranging sounds scary as they are so small and can get into things!

I've done it a few times. A good 15 mins just goes into preparation for the nosey boys, blocking off anything they can get under, chew or wee on(they seem to have taking a liking to my surround sound speaker as a loo). Then it's eagle eye time. I sat on a pillow in the middle of the room watching their every move and hiding bits of carrot under my pillow so they knew I wasn't just there to ruin their fun. Then, dreaded clean up. Poo everywhere imaginable!
They have a playpen now. :))

Problem with our lounge is that it doesn't matter where you sit you cant see everywhere because of a big chair and a coffee table so I was up and down like a yoyo and they didn't follow each other so I could only ever see one at a time. I think I will just let them out for 15minute bursts at a time in the hope that wee opportunities are minimised - possibly wishful thinking but there must be less wee than them having a solid hour out.

I have just found some vanish carpet stain remover in the back of a cupboard - am sure that will do the trick. Otherwise I shall look into Zoflora - haven't heard of that before.

Best place to get it is any pound shop or Quality Save. It smells really nice and if diluted properly, it's safe to use with pets.

Good luck!

So cute x) Love the fact they go back in on command! Clever piggles.

We let Meg free range as she loves to explore, most fearless pig ever especially considering she is blind. We have to block area off though as she will always go where shouldn't :))

Great photos thanks for those

inbreedingI love the play pen idea. Mr. Bailee is a very adventurous. {:|I sometimes think he is related to Harry Houdini.:^-

I wish I'd had my camera at the ready this morning so I could have filmed Toby & Barney sprinting laps around the coffee table before they had breakfast. Just when I think they can't get any cuter they take things to another level!

It is. It's a great hutch although it was never actually meant to be in the house. But then again, neither were the piggies! :))
