I would also recommend having a small dish of cornflour at hand.
I cut our piggies nails for the first time a few weeks ago with my husband holding them and even being careful managed to cut a couple too close.
Stressed slave and a piggy who didn’t care.
It really does depend on the piggy - some are no trouble and some are not.
I watched a few You Tube videos first to get a feel for how to hold the piggy, etc and always do it with a helper.
I have only ever had one really difficult piggy to nail clip (sigh - yes it is Miss Ruby) and I always reward myself with a glass of wine after she is done for the month
Iv just did it! It was easier than I thought it would be because all my piggies have clear nails! There was the odd squirm and pull away, but no bites for me!!
Only one of the piggies I have currently is old enough to have long nails, and her claws are black so we have to be really careful. I've never tried cutting her nails without giving her veggies.
Your lucky! I have had my piggies for almost a year now and I still break out in a sweat while I am doing nails. Recently I decided I would have to get my husband to hold them for me, which really helps. My young one wriggles around and my older girl has black nails so I find it quite a challenge. Unfortunately my eye sight isn't what it used to be either so I am really slow at it and by the time I am ready to cut they have moved.
