Hello everyone,

I have booked neutering op. for my boy piggy on 9 May.,and this is the very first
experience for me.
I chose the Vet carefully and read a lot about it too, just to prepare myself.
But I am still worried so much. :(

Although I have some foreknowledge about it, could anyone give me some advice
based on your own experience?
After he recovers well, I am planning to get him a girl piggy targetting around mid June.
(As the book says it's better to wait at least a month before getting a sow)

Thank you in advance! :)

Hi there I would wait about 6 weeks to be doubley safe before getting him a girl friend lol.
Ermmm obviously with all op's theres a risk but if you have found a good vets finger crossed he will be just fine.
How old is he? I had my boar done and he was fine after 3 days running around pop corning as normal.
Keep him on either fleece or vet bed for a good week tho until the scar has healed as hay can get caught in it.
I use to put hay in a toilet chube for him.

Think thats about it appart from good luck x

welcome to the forums from me and the girls from oz :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: hoping all goes well for your little man in may O0 when zoe had her surgery i had her on towels and in a cat carrier for a week to confine movement especially as the vet gave her no painkillers as it was felt she had had too many antibiotics before the surgery. keep him warm and he should be fine. sending hugs and healing vibes :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Thank you very much sianieJ and choloe, for your warm words and advices! :)

My boy is 9 months old and the vet said he's old enough to have it.
Ok, I'll be extra careful about hay getting into his scar and will keep him
warm in quiet place.
All this is for him to have a company and be happier so hope all go well
and be happy Summer for him!

Thank you again! :smitten:

Hi there, i've not experienced this but agree with everyone elses advice O0
i'm sure he'll be pleased once he's able to have a wife :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Thank you Glynis, both my boy and myself cannot wait
to get him a "wife" too! :smitten:

My two boys got neutured in February and all went really well. I had no problems with the stitches and they nibbled on a little bit of food when i got them home. They were back to eatting and running around like normal with 48hrs. I was advised to wait 4 weeks before placing them with females. xx

That was another encouraging message, thank you sarsmccabe. :)
Now I can feel this is for the better!

we rehomed a Boar today, we have two wee girls just now. The SSPCA has advised us that he requires neutering. We have looked into it and hope to get him booked in tomorrow for sometime next week.

I'm a little nervous TBH but he is seperated from the girls just now and its a wee shame to see him on his own. :(

from the info above i guess it will be about 5 weeks before he is able to meet his new family.
