Hi all,

Taking the babies to the vet for a nail clip tomorrow and to suss the place out cos I've never been to this vet before. I'm a little stressed for them as I feel like it's too soon as they are still getting to know me and a stranger probably going to freak them right out but their back claws are getting stuck in everything thing now so vet trip unavoidable. I'm hoping whoever does it can show me how to do it so i can them myself in the future to save the girls (and me) the added stress. How can I make things a little easier for them?

Being together will help them. Perhaps a few tasty herbs to distract them. Good luck.

Iv never had a problem cutting my pigs nails, even with Poppet who arrived malnourished and completely Unhandled. She will never be confident with people but I manage to clip her nails no problem.

I start by sitting them on my lap facing the right with a pile of veg infront of them; and I clip the left nails felt and back. I then turn them around to face the left and put the veg infront of them again, then cut the right nails.

After a couple times of this, the veg now isn't needed.

Pigs with white nails, avoid cutting down to the pink part of the nail (the quick), with dark nails your best just cutting a little every couple of weeks to keep them to a reasonable length as its too difficult to see the quick.

All the best

What we do is I hold a piggy facing away, my sister helps keep him still, and I clip the feet one at a time, giving them a break in between feet. They don't like it at all, but hey ho. Godfrey has a black nail so I just trim the tip.
In my opinion, trimming yourself helps you bond with your piggy, in a way. After some googling, I was all set.
Apparently you can use human nail clippers, but it's not as tidy.

So the girls are back from their trip to the vet with a brand new manipedi, they freaked out in the car but once they got to the vet they were little troopers except Coco tried to bite the nurses hand. They are now busy sulking in their hideys but will no doubt be tempted out when it's dinner time lol
