hi all, just wondering if it's possible for 2 Guinea pigs to have allergic reactions to Fitch? A week after getting Fitch my little snowflake had a runny eye then my star also had a runny eye. Vet said it was conjunctivitis and prescribed drops. Now star has her other eye running and is itching her body a lot. Could this be from the bedding or just conjunctivitis which was passed from one piggie to the other and now from one eye to the other? (And the itching of her body being just one of those things?)

I'm going to move your post to the health and illness forum @Hayley1993 as I think you'll get more replies.
I'm afraid I don't know about Fitch.

hi everyone, star was prescribed baytril yesterday and the dose is 0.4 once a day. Am I better to give her this in one go or in 2 doses of 0.2 every 12 hours?
Thankyou:)

I would recommend to give it in two doses as guinea pigs have a very fast metabolism, but either way will work.

Mix the baytril you are giving with the same amount of ribena, as the antibiotic is about the most foul tasting thing that a piggy can come across. Or just get the baytril in quick, and then use the ribena to wash the bad taste away.

Also give a pinch of probiotic about 1-2 hours after the antibiotic to help prop up the guts. Baytril is especially know for being an appetite dampener/killer. You can get probiotics online or from a pet shop.

If baytril is killing the appetite, please step in with syringe feeding asap and contact your vet on Monday.
