Our latest water bottle seems to be leaking from the ball valve -- I think I've replaced a water bottle every couple of years. I don't mind spending the $$ on a new water bottle, but I hate throwing more plastic into a landfill. Is there any point in disassembling/cleaning the valve? I haven't looked closely to see if it's "user-serviceable" but if there's an alternative to throwing it away, I'd like to try that.

EDIT: This is the bottle we've been using: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CGTR87K

Mmm I’ve never come across those bottles in the UK
I understand about adding to landfill but if you’ve had it few years then you’ve done well !
I’d go for a new one
I use the classic water bottles and get a new one every 6 months and recycle what I can of the old one

CLASSIC Crystal Deluxe 'Large' Small Animal Drinking Bottle – 20 oz | Non-Leak Water Bottle for Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Chinchillas & Other Small Pets Amazon.com

In my experience once they start leaking it's hard to get them to stop... I've tried 'fixing' them in the past with not much success. It's probably time for a new one. I understand not wanting to add to landfill, but unfortunately these things don't seem made to last!

Can you recycle hard plastics ?
Our local tip has a plastic recycling bin for hard plastics so anything that I can’t put in the home recycling bin goes there.
Another alternative is glass bottles.

On that link you posted, there is a video showing adjustment and disassembly of the nozzle. That part at least ooks serviceable and solidly made.

I may have to get one to try. The Classic Crystal ones are fine but hard to clean and drippy. My only venture into a 'premium' bottle resulted in two very dehydrated boys when it stopped working suddenly during a heat wave. I've been reluctant to experiment again since!
