Junior Guinea Pig
Hi all my guinea pig has very flaky scalp. I tried my best to observe and see but as far as i can tell nothing is moving... any idea what this could be, please?
Ok thank you. Will arrange for a vet to see him. Please do have been seen by a vet, we can’t comment on what it might be - it could just be dry skin but it could be mites.
Mites are invisible to the human eye so if they have them then you won’t see anything moving.
It’s only lice which are visible
Is there anything I could do whilst waiting for vet please or just leave it until vet appointment? Please do have been seen by a vet, we can’t comment on what it might be - it could just be dry skin but it could be mites.

Thank you so muchBest to leave it alone - don’t do anything before an appointment (no bathing, creams, treatments etc for any skin conditions) as you will hide the symptoms and indicators a vet needs to make a diagnosis (and you may also be using the wrong thing and potentially make things worse or at least delay the use of an appropriate treatment (some treatments can be applied within a certain amount of time or another treatment being used)

You can replace it with an already washed bedding.
