Flaky skin on bottom

So I when I picked up my guinea pig today, I noticed some flaky skin on his bottom. Not near the testicles or anything, but where there's fur, between his back legs. He's missing a small patch of fur there, and the skin seems to be peeling. I can also feel his spine there. I don't see this on any other part of the body, and he seems to be acting pretty normal. He's still eating the same, and around the same weight. He squeaks when I touch it, but he doesn't bite or try to run away or anything, so the squeaking could just be him wanting dinner. If any of you know what this is, please let me know.
 
I would get him checked at the vets as it is impossible to say what it may be fro your description. We are not vets, we are ordinary members just trying to help others. It is always best to check any health concern with a qualified vet who is good with guinea pigs as not all of them are. Whereabouts are you located?
 
I have a vet nearby that is great with guinea pigs, I was just wondering what it was, or what it could be caused by.
 
It could perhaps be mites but we are only guessing so getting him to a vet for diagnosis and treatment is important
 
It could be mites, lice, fungal. It could be self barbering as a pain response. It could be scalding from his urine. A vet needs to have a look to find out

Hi!

Without a picture, our guesses are as good as yours as your description is far too vague to even try and make an educated guess; it can be anything from skin parasites, fungal, dry skin or urine scald/urine crusts.

This is why online places can never replace a hands-on vet diagnosis (not that we are qualified to); we can't just reach through the screen and have a look!

We can tell you when to see a vet and support you during treatment however.

We can't know without seeing anything... Sorry! It's a bit of a very wide field with lots of possible answers you are asking about here, not something with just one answer!
