Not sure if I've posted this in the right category as I don't really know where it fits.

Anyway my 5 month old puppy is flead every 4 weeks but unfortunately I found a flea on him a few days ago. I use frontline flea treatment but I read online that fleas seem to be becoming immune to frontline so I went to p@h to get advantage flea treatment instead. However the woman would not sell me it because he has recently been flead already. She said that if you see a flea on your pet then most likely your house has fleas also due to the amount of eggs they lay. So now I'm left feeling sick and itchy.

I've read about flea bombs but I'm not quite sure how to do them when I have guinea pigs. Has anyone else used them? It's not easy to remove guinea pigs from the house so can you do one room at a time with each door shut? And what type of mess is left afterwards? Would c&c cage bars etc have to be washed?

Just a question. Are you treating your puppy because you have seen fleas on him.
I have a 16 year old dog who has never been treated for fleas as she has never had them.
If you think your puppy has fleas I would suggest you take him to the vet for advice as regular over the counter treatments for a young dog may not be suitable.
I think flea bombs would only be applicable if the house was highly infested.

Dito , a flea bome would be only be needed for a flea infection that had got out of hand

@worried val of york I've flead the puppy ever since I got him to help prevent fleas but I've only ever seen one on him (the other day). The reason I wanted the flea bomb was because the flea I saw on my puppy could have laid thousands of eggs which could now all be living in my house. I've not seen any but it has made me really paranoid. I have checked puppies hair over and over and also checked guinea pigs hair and can't find any more but I'm a worrier. I've just been signed off work due to anxiety and OCD so I think I'm looking for things wrong right now and maybe that's why I'm overly concerned about fleas but I worry about my guinea pigs getting them because I think it would be difficult to spot fleas on them and I don't think it would take very much to make their little bodies anaemic

Are you able to go to a local PDSA clinic or is there an RSPCA centre that has a vet who works for reduced charges.
If so I would take your puppy there just for a check over. If needed they would give him an injection that would be better than the over the counter medication you are using. It would also cause you less worry as you would have an expert check over your puppy.
I am not sure if dog fleas live on guinea pigs, I have a feeling they don't but I am no expert. That's a question the vet could answer when you see him.
To save you worrying unnecessarily try and see a vet to ease your mind.
What type of puppy have you got and where did you get him from.
