Hey guys, ive been reading alot about fleece bedding. I bought my piggies a cosy little bed and they both seem to like it. I am now thinking of placing fleece down on the base of the sleeping area. I have a towel which i will fold in half with a fleece blanket on top and then the bed. From my research i think an ordinary dog fleece blanket is suitable, is that right? And i need to wash it a fair few times before i use it but dont use softener when washing. My question is, do you use detergent? Or do you literally wash it on a high temp wash with no detergent and no softener?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi! Plain non-bio detergent is best. It is also recommended to wash fleece at a higher temperature from time to time in order to prevent a build-up of bacteria. Never overfill the drum or the fleece will come out stinking if there is too much absorbent fabric (including padding in any cosies!) for the amount of water in a washing load.
Some fleece is better at wicking any fluid away and staying dry; you have to see how your dog blanket is.
Absorbent cotton towels, incontinence bed or seat pads or now most popular, puppy pads all work as an underlay.

Fleece is great for indoors cages and is very popular, but not everybody is a fan; you have to see whether it works for you. I certainly couldn't keep as many piggies as I do without fleece bedding!

I’m not sure but I heard the thin fleece is best from places like primark as there is less pile. Easier to clean and quicker to dry I expect
