hi guys, basically I am wanting to change from sawdust to fleece lining, however what do you all find is the best thing to put underneath your fleece to absorb the wee x

I’ve tried lots of things but I find a towel under the fleece and then newspaper is best for me.

Hi and Welcome to the Forum
:wel:

We have a guide to fleece bedding here that might help.
A Detailed Guide For Fleece Bedding

What you use as an absorbent layer will depend on a few things such as where you are based (UK, US, other), how many piggies you have and how big your cage is.
Maybe if you could tell us a bit more about your current set up we could give you more specific advice.

I only have one piggy and a 100 indoor cage she is only 5 months. she doesn't spend much time her cage however she always our in her pen playing x

I've just made myself a fleece liner to try out and have used a cotton mattress protector as the inner layer. So far it seems to be working really well (despite my incredibly wonky sewing skills) and, though I've put newspaper underneath, I don't seem to need it. The mattress protector seems to be a doing a good job. Both the top and bottom layers of fleece are always dry, and I'm incredibly impressed. Plus, my two seem to love how soft it is.

Also, are you planning on getting a friend for your guinea pig? They need a companion as they're social animals, and I think the minimum size requirement for a cage is around 120.

I use waterproof mattress protectors under the fleece.

Please think about making the cage bigger and getting her a friend very soon. 😊
