Hi everyone,

The C&C cage finally turned up, woohoo! However, I am still waiting for their custom fleece liners and puppy pads to turn up. For now I just want your help on how you deal with fleece? I’m hoping it’s much easier than horse bedding/wood shavings

I’d buy a horse wash bag to put it in when washing. It stops hay and hairs going in the washing machine. I put bath mats on top of the fleece which means I can stretch out it’s use to a week. And I also do a hot wash maybe once a month.

Yeah I do have a few of those bags for when I wash any shoes. I do have a few bath mats I have bought for them

The washing bags are great. I wash the fleece twice a week.
I ordered two fleeces so I’ll have one when the other is being washed, but I did find they were quite pricey to buy because they were custom made

I bought a horse wash bag. It stops hay coming out, but not all hairs...

I just use fleece blankets which I bought from Dunelm and then just throw them over an absorbent layer

I’ve got a rubber brush which I use to brush down my fleece before washing it. Don’t forget to check the filters in your washing machine regularly

I have to figure out where the filter is first 🤦🏾‍♀️

Usually behind a little door on the front of the machine. Don’t just pull it out though - you’ll likely flood your floor! You should also find a little hose also behind the door which you need to open up into a container so all the water drains out first. Then remove the filter (more water will probably still come out - have a tray or lots of towels down), empty it and reassemble!
I used to empty my filter monthly but my machine started making noises. Called out an engineer to find that some of the fluff/hay/hair had still got behind the filter and was starting to tangle round the pump. Fortunately no permanent damage done but I now empty my filter after every single piggy wash

Yes, they're not cheap but they do last well so pay for themselves over time compared to disposable bedding.

I have fleece bedding. All I did was shake it out outside, then throw it into the washer! No problems so far! :)

Don’t forget to use no bio laundry detergent, their sensitive little noses don’t like lavender scented much to my sadness!
