What would you say is the best option for fleece liners? In terms of long lasting in the wash, thickness, absorbsion, smell etc.

Top layer: fleece
Mid layer: zorb, waterproof terry towelling (like the kind used in cloth nappies), or cotton mattress protector
Bottom layer: fleece or a waterproof pvc type fabric

Is zorb better as a mid layer for absorbing and smell, even though a mattress protector would make the liner thicker and more “plush”?

Is a fleece bottom more preferable to make the liner reversible, or is a fully waterproof bottom better for peace of mind that nothing will seep through?

I can't use waterproof bottoms because my boy pees on the coroplast and the water pools then. But they might work for yours if yours stay on top of the fleece.

I also find waterproof material hard on my washing machine.

Ah that’s very helpful thank you!

I have made most of our fleece liners.
We have fleece top, Zorb middle & fleece bottom.
I don’t like the 2nd hand fleece liner we have with a waterproof layer in.

I would also suggest thinking about the size of your liners in comparison to your washing machine. Best not to go too big. We have a 2x4CC liner that the washing machine hates to spin. It’s a better fit for us having two 2x2 CC liners instead.
