Hello, all. I'm not sure if this is the right board for this question or if this question has been asked and answered before, but I'll give it a shot. I was wondering if anyone who uses fleece and towels has any tips for how to 1)get most of the fur off of the fleece? 2)get the stains out of the fleece? 3) get the smell out of the towels? I've been using fleece in the bottom of my pigs' C & C cage for about 6 months now but I've been having trouble with the above. Thank you, in advance!

I use fleece cage liners in my cage.

For stains I use either white vinegar on the stains- let it soak on the stain for a little while and then wash.

I also use vanish antibacterial powder along with my usual wash powder in each wash as an addition.

I don't use towels as i find they smell when i tried them, but i know some people use them. I use puppy-pads under my cage liners, but some people use washable incontinence sheets.

For getting hair off the fleece i just use a dustpan... usually twice, but if not at least once each day and after 3 days (i do a full cage clean every 3days) i remove fleece,....brush off any excess hay with a dustpan, wash and then after the wash i dustpan any left over hay/hair attached. I also somtimes use a lint roller, but am not to fussy- a good dustpan and brush works fine. I have a "dirty" brush for pre wash and then a "clean" brush for when the fleece is clean. Hope this helps in some way.

Thank you! It does help :) so for the puppy pads, do you have to throw them out every day and replace them with new ones?

I change mine when i do a full clean out- with 1 cage i have a girl who wee's loads so hers is changed every 3 days when i do a full cage clean- i also use litter trays in the cage with hay and they wee alot in the litter trays so the more they wee in one area- you can replace that pad more oftern and leave the others .

In the other piggy cage I can sometimes leave the puppy-pads in for a week- as long as they are not soiled badly. It all depends if they are wet- if they are wet- then get rid every few days- if dry- leave them :)

Thank you so much! I'll be sure to try the vinegar and vanish! I looked into the incontinence sheets and they seem like they would be worth trying! Much appreciated!
