Fleece Liners.

Hi All.
After gentle persuasions and turning it to make my other half thinks it's his idea he has agreed to my piggies living indoors. Yayyyyyy. They are currently in a hutch outside. I'm super excited and love the idea of the fleece in the cage. I can make them with patterns to suit occasions. Christmas they could have fleece with santas on. Lol. Ignore me getting carried away.
How do you go about making them?
I understand the outer if fleece, can it be any fleece?
What do you use to absorbing wee?
And how do you seal the end?
Any helpful ideas will be great.

I make my own. I'm at work at the moment but I'll try and take a couple of photos tomorrow to give you a general idea :) I think it's normal cheap fleece which is 100% polyester (someone will nodoubt correct me if I'm wrong) . I preshrink it (before sowing) by washing the fabric on a high temperature a couple of times which shrinks and wicks it in one hit. We don't bother with stuffing it with anything absorbant, the wee goes straight through and is soaked up by either puppy pads or towels (whatever we have available during clean out! :)))
 
Sorry @Tim I know others make them but naturally you're the only one that came to mind...especially with the antics of you using a sowing machine, it was too funny to forget really.

I will be making mine soon. I am using fleece on top, some mattress protector in the middle and then a terry towelling waterproof mattress cover for the bottom layer. Seen this on a few Youtube tutorials.

I've recently started making all my own stuff and it's so much fun. I've made matching tunnels, cuddle cups, hammocks and hay bags and even some bunting! I get carried away as well :D

I also want to do themed stuff for Christmas :D
 
...and if you don't have time for sewing you can use just a piece of fleece and underneath, as an absorbent layer, you can use old newspapers or even leaflets from supermarkets (I live in a building which is literally buried with them, therefore I have plenty of such paper). Once a day you need to remove the fleece, shake it on the floor, remove the few wet spots, put new some paper and again the fleece. Under the newspapers you can put an old towel, just for having a thicker floor.
But of course you can put puppy puds, it is just the same. I only recommend you to hang the fleece outside to have some cool air. You can dot that during your piggies' floor time... Doing that you will not have any smell at home and the fleece can be washed after 4-5 days.

Clever you! My Mum always said if you want anything make him think it was his idea!
 
I use cheap polar fleece with either mattress protector in side or zorb (great but more expensive) then fleece on the bottom. Ie a fleece sandwich. I love chosing fleece. So many great patterns out there.

Already got my Christmas fleece ready!

I was in Hobby Craft last week and they already have Christmas fabric fat square bundles. I can't wait to make Christmas themed stuff for the piggies cages :)

I don't know what is into the fridge for tomorrow morning... some grass and a bell pepper for sure, though...
And... usually I realise the toilet paper is finished in THAT exact moment when I need it (and there is none:rant:)

I fear I won't have anything else for breakfast tomorrow... because today I preferred playing a boardgame rather than going and buying food...:soz: Do you know any good recipe with hay?:woot:
