Fleece/vetbed

What is the difference between the fleece and the vetbed? Has anyone had both, and what are you opinions.
 
Yes I use both! fleece is like what throws are made out of etc.. I use fleece for in the play pen as it is easy to fold away etc..

Vet bed is also call profleece but is not like fleece at all. I has a back on it a bit like carpet does and it is full of fluffy fibres it draws the wee down thorugh the fibres and out the bottom. I put newspaper under mine now and change the paper daily and it gives it a few extra days of wear that way!
 
I am going to be making up a C+C cage soon and wondered which one was best, do you think that the vet bed would be better for this.
 
i use vet bed in my C&C cage but you can use either really, the only problem i have with the vetbed is the hay getting stuck in it and obviously you want to get as much off as possible before washing it. I have never used fleece but i would expect this would be easier for gettin hay off as the fibres wouldnt be as long but i dont really know.

I use a hayrack over a corner litter tray which means only a bit of hay goes on the vetbed I sweep as much as possible then do a quick hoover which gets most of it out! I think vetbed is more cosy for the piggies as they can snuggle in it. Tiger sleeps like a person with his head on one side I think it is like a comfy pillow for him!
 
Can you tell me with regard Vetbed (sorry for sabotaging the thread!) - the run that I've got for my boys will be inside on our hardwood floor. Would Vetbed soak up the wee wee (as the floor is not at an angle, I would need to put something on the floor that would draw the fluid down so that the piggies aren't walking/lying in it all day long?

Would it be suitable?

it does soak up the wee but will spit it out on your floor so you might want to put some plastic sheeting or something down first. I use a tarpolin I got from the pound shop under the play pen! I need a new one though as let piggies nails get sharp and they have made a few slits in it :)) (I have cut their nails now)
 
Fabulous! I take fleece would be an alternative but not as good as Vetbed?
 
yet fleece is fine also but I prefer the vet bed for cages! I think maybe for a run that is being put away maybe fleece is better as the backing gets quite wet on vetbed and if rolled up and put in an carrier bag it might smell after a day
 
Okay, I'll try and explain my idea and hopefully, if you get what I mean, you can tell me what you think.

The run will be attached to the hutch enabling the piggies to come and go as they please. The hutch is 5'2" and the run about 3ft x 4ft. I was intending to have a small gangplank-type ramp down in to the run and blocking the underneath of the hutch so they can't escape round the back! Therefore, whatever I put on the floor would be down for a day, changing what's underneath the top layer daily and washing the top layer every 3/4 days - do you think that might work out to be a really big hassle?

Would it be better to have them in the hutch during the day with free-run of the hutch and run in the evenings (I work full-time so couldn't let them out during the day)?
