My piggies live in a 2-story cage outside.(When it is warm enough!) I've always used sawdust and newspaper but I'm now wondering about switching to fleece lining as it is supposed to be more environmentally friendly and easier to clean out. Can I have your thoughts please?! (Btw I have 2 female piggies!)

Bedding is a very personal thing, what works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another - so all you can do is give it a go and see how you feel about it.

My two live in my shed. During winter I use aubiose topped with hay everywhere. During summer, half their space is still aubiose/hay (I love them having large hay areas for constant foraging) but half is fleece. I do it to reduce bedding costs for a least part of the year (they have a 8ft x 6ft space so bedding it gets expensive!). I like the fleece for its ease of changing, just lift it out via sweeping everything down, but the hay sticking to the fleece does drive me a bit mad!

Fleece doesn't really work in Winter if they are outside.
In a shed is different, but if their hutch is out in the open, fleece has a tendency to get damp and not offer much warmth, so you would be better off sticking with a disposable bedding like shavings or aubiose.
