As long as it is fleece that will wick and you have a good absorbent layer underneath then yes.

Yes I’ve used cheap fleece and usually after washing them 5-6 times they wick beautifully - some of the cheaper fleeces do cause fluff when you cut them but they sew really well. I use a cheap mattress protector ( not the waterproof type) and add a layer of material under and they work very well. Have fun !
