Jezzy floof selfie! Its saturday night piggy weight checks and she's lost 20g which I thought justified a grape snack and a piggy snuggle selfie. Theo has gained 20g so I suspect that's clear evidence of dinner theft by chubster boar (he's hiding in piggy daddy's jumper saying it wasnt him who took Jezzy's carrots at all).

Aw thank you @Betsy ! Blodwen still doesnt quite trust me after that 3 weeks of twice daily ringworm spray but we've reached a compromise where if she can't see me looking directly at her she's happy to sit on my chest or under my chin and eat grapes and coriander as long as I look the other way and pretend I haven't seen her :)
She loves the other piggies so much though, she's always the little popcorning ray of sunshine who is friends with everypig and cheers the other moody up when they fall out!
Big boss pig Clover is utterly besotted with Blod, Clover used to be such a grumpy pants and very territorial over hidey houses and food but she shares everything with Blod and they snuggle up together a lot :)

I got Wilbur on Thursday and I weighed him recently and he weighs 741 grams.
I am a new guinea pig owner and I am wondering if that is to much, too little, or if that weight is okay?

Aww so sweet. 😍
I think grapes are poisonous to piggies? I may be wrong, excuse me if I am!
Hmm never heard that... what is in grapes that might be poisonous? Obviously they are fruit so its like one or two grapes per pig cut into quarters per week, if they havent had any apple... our vet said it was good to feed Blod a grape or two when she couldnt chew

Oh I hope not, I never heard that! I've read other forum members feed occasional grapes. The vet said they were ok, Blodwen started the grape thing when her teeth were bad and she couldnt chew hard veggies. They only get 1 or 2 grapes per piggy and very occasionally, like with any fruit.

Oops replied twice there must have started replying yesterday and not posted then replied again just now! I'd like to hear if anyone has had problems with occasional grapes, there's not much info about it.

Hi @Little Paws weight depends on size and age and build and breed, adult weights are usually roughly between 800 and 1200g but there are healthy pigs a bit smaller and bigger than this! Its good to weigh your piggy every week then you can check they are gaining weight if they are still growing, and not losing any weight because that might indicate they are ill. Heft is a better measure for checking if your piggy is not too thin or fat, you should be able to just about feel his ribs, but them not be sticking out. There's a guide to all this on the forum somewhere :)

They aren’t poisonous to piggies. They are high in sugar and pips are a choking hazard but cut into slices they are absolutely fine as an occasional treat but not as a regular food for piggies.

Glad to hear grapes are ok! I did check with the vet about them after my mum bought Blodwen a bunch of grapes as a sort-of joke when we found out she had ringworm and bad teeth (mum said poorly people always get grapes) and the vet thought they'd be good for extra calories and vitamin C while she wasnt eating much and relying on syringe feeds.

Jezzy floof is getting used to the top-floor hay tray of the new wooden piggy castle, she's not sure its quite as good as sitting in her favorite toilet tray but seeing as filled it with Burgel Excel hay she's willing to give it a go :)
