So I tried to exercise Butch by leaving a food trail around the house. That’s the only way he used to explore and have some floor time. Two weeks ago we bought him a fleece blanket (well tbh I bought it for myself and then Butch robbed it!:)) {:|) and Butch absolutely adores it. He curls inside the layers of fleece and plays/snoozes/has guinea mares (i.e. guinea pig’s nightmare- when they are sleeping peacefully and wake up with a start and go back dozing again!) for hours on the rug. It’s great to watch him so comfy and relaxed outside his cage. But the downside is he has stopped exploring (aka exercising). When he is tired of the blanket he dashes for his cage even if we have left his usual treats on the floor. It’s not that he is frightened of us but he’s too timid and lazy to explore on his own. I have tried taking him outdoors on a small animal leash for a walk outside but he doesn’t fancy that either. He will try to hide between my legs until I give up and pick him.

The other thing I wanted to ask was how do you clip your piggy’s nails? Butch screams like he is being punched or something when I try to clip his front paw nails. He puts up a real fight and I end up with teeth marks all over.. I have tried checking if he’s sore and it doesn’t look like he is. As I mentioned earlier he won’t walk on pavements either which could wear his nails down naturally!

Look forward to hear your stories and solutions on similar issues.x

My piggies had theyre 5th ever floor time today, and this is the first time they havnt just sat there looking as though id thrown them in molten lava... but my persistance paid off, they did enjoy it. :)

As for the nails, yes, i have a screamer. Ive heard small children having tanrums that make less noise. I have to inlist my moms help. She wraps him in a towel, leaving him a hole to breath, holding him so her fingers are far from his teeth so i can clip them. I have been to the vets, theres nothing wrong with his nails/general health, he just HATES it. Hehe. (hes all like this when i trimm his hair, he screams like I'm trying to dicect him! :( )
