I know people like giving their piggies indoor floor time, but what about the mess? Mine are especially good at pooing in hard-to-reach corners:hmm:

You could block off the corners, or put down puppy pads where they poop most.

A friend of mine has her pigs free range in the kitchen all day. The floor is lino so it"s easy to sweep up and wash clean.

Some people use play pens too, to keep them contained to a certain area.

We put ours in a big run made from c&c grids cable tied together, with covering the floor. Nice big space but contains them and protects the carpet

Mine live out doors in the shed, I bring them inside for floor time if it's too cold or raining for the grass. i just use a puppy pen in the kitchen (with the door open if too warm inside) easy to clean and sweep up on that flooring

I have got a puppy and a shower curtain ready for when I get my two rescue guinea pigs.

Thanks guys! Kate, I love your "BEWARE- Guinea pig!" Sign:drool:Might put absorbent mats in the awkward areas. They do like toddling round, and I like the bonding chance:love:

Mine come out for floor time most days. Because their cage is at floor level I leave their door open and when they want to go back in they can. They have never done wees or poos on the carpet but if they do I would put a fleece or something down I guess. I have a carpet cleaner from when my children were potty training so if they do have an accident it's not the end of the world.

They also have access to the hallway and kitchen but refuse to go in these areas as the floors are possibly too slippery for them, so they stay on the carpet.

That's pretty clever, actually. What about getting a run so, when they go out the cage they're in contained area and won't get stepped on when we open the door? Good idea or no?

Ours have a puppy pen that they are in when we are home. I'm getting a fleece liner made to fit the dimensions of the pen but until that comes we are using a towel and a fleece blanket

I tend to put some c and c grids across the doorway to the lounge so the door is still open and I can just step over the c and c and into the guinea room without hitting them with the door and stop them getting into the lounge.

Ours go in the bathroom for floor time its easy to clean but to be honest they don't really make a mess as I put a large cat litter tray filled with hay in there and they use that.

Ahhhh. Now, if I could just litter train the boys...:hmm:
For some reason they arnt litter trained in their cage just at floor time. I wonder if its because they are used to fleece in their cage but the bathroom is tiles?
