Junior Guinea Pig
I'm a bit concerned about Poppy because her weight keeps fluctuating. As some may know I have 3 little girl piggies, who are about 8/9 months old. We've had our ups and downs, and dramas. When they arrived Poppy seemed to be the boss, but as puberty kicked in, things got a bit confused and I don't think I could tell you now who the boss is, in fact I'm not sure if the girls could tell you, I think if they were asked (and if they could answer) they'd all shout out their own name!!
Anyway, they get weighed once a week, and when they arrived Poppy was the biggest, but not any more and all the trouble seemed to start when the other two caught her up in weight, and now they have over taken her. Up until recently they all kept a nice steady increase in weight (well they were growing girls), then Poppy seemed to get extra hormonal and there would be days when she did nothing but chase, rumble, hump, and run around, and sure enough at that weeks weigh in she would either not have gained anything or some times lost a little, but never very much. However this never happened to the other 2 so slowly they over took her in weight, and the dynamic seemed to change, Poppy still behaves the same, but instead of being intimidated and accepting of her bad behavior the other 2 now stand up to her, and even give her a nip when they've had enough, but she just can't help herself, she seems compelled to do it again, even when she know its going to get her a kick in the face or nip on the bum.
Now I never know what to expect when I weigh Poppy, the other 2 have slowed down but are still gaining a little each week I assume that at 1kg and 1.2kg they have just reached their adult weights, but Poppy is all over the place! I'm going to put her weights below so you can see what I mean.
The dates are a bit erratic due to holidays.
14 April 733g, 21 April 779g +46g, 30 April 772g -7g,
6 May 785g +/-0g, 13 May 785g +13g, 23 May 851g +66g, 31 May 794g -57g
10 June 881g +87g, 22 June 859g -22g,
3 July 830g - 29g
Everyone else stays the same give or take a g or 2, or mostly they have gained a little, I'm getting worried! I'd really appreciate some experienced opinions please. Other wise they all seem happy, healthy, normal piggies!
