Sorry if this is in the wrong section
How can I keep flies away, it's "fly season" now and we've got littke tiny flies hanging around, they're in the room the pigs are in and it concerns me that they could harm my boys (flystrike etc...)
Are there any fly sprays that are okay for the same room the pigs are in (I know to avoid perfumes and scented spays/items) or what else could I use?
Thanks a lot for taking the time to read this!

I use sticky strips and an electric fly catcher for my piggy room.

I came up with a plan last weekend after finding a couple of big fat flies in the piggy room, so while the piggies were in the playpen in the other room I wiped down all the windows and window sill with F10 insecticide spray- the flies seemed to keep going towards the window and now they die on contact. Hasta la vista bluebottles.
Fly paper and an electric fly zapper sound a better long term plan though, I just happened to have the insecticidal version of F10 spray to hand and its very effective!

Normally I hate killing things and I love little creepy crawly animals but I draw the line at nasty flies, I saw one land briefly on Piggle's dirty grease gland bum and I freaked out, Piggle got a very vigorous bum bath and all the others had a good bum clean with wet wipes and I enjoyed watching those flies spasming in their death throes on the windowsill... my piggy bums are off limits evil Diptera!

:yikes:
I read somewhere yesterday that a wipe around with a smear of tea tree oil is good for keeping flies away too.

The problem is they’re tiny, I don’t know if most fly traps would do anything. I’m wondering if, one, whatever it is is coming in by the window (I’ve had the window shut and there have been far less of them), and two, if any fly traps would work?
Although the boys don’t seem bothered by them at all, they’re not itchy and they’re just going about their normal life, it still worries me as I know they can be carriers of disease

Any articles, threads or links would be greatly appreciated!
I’m in Scotland and as far as I know there aren’t any “harmful flies”

Are they fruit flies? We have fruit flies in our kitchen sometimes, they are annoying and get in my wine glass but are harmless usually... they just eat fruit! Often they turn up if there's an old bit of fruit or veg somewhere...

Get a fly spray from pets at home
