It’s my first summer with piggies. I have 3 sows have a large indoor C&C cage (24 SA ft) I clean daily and change all the mats once a week. I read about fly strike. It sounds nasty, but how to protect? Flies are everywhere here in the summer (I’m in the countryside). I’ve invested in fly screens and fly tape, but it’s hard to completely control them. How much should I worry? Piggies are clean and healthy.

Sorry the links don't seem to be working. I hope someone who can help will be along soon.

It is only blowflies which pose a risk.
While it can affect all piggies; the elderly and those who can’t keep themselves clean are most at risk.

Make sure the cage is clean, no food is left around which can attract flies.
Importantly make sure you check all your piggies bottoms twice a day. If you see any red bumps or any sign of problems then seek emergency vet care
