Junior Guinea Pig
help, am having a real case of myasis here. I don't know what to do, I've taken 2 of them to see a vet, but they just keep coming. what should I do?
He is in Nigeria. If you have an animal with fly strike, they must see a vet immediately, even if you cannot see wounds, or you think you've removed all the maggots - they will enter the body via the genitals and anus so you cannot see them. Immediate treatment is imperative as it won't take long before they suffer shock which is often fatal.
See here for info on how to contact your emergency service vet if you're not sure http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/threads/how-to-contact-a-vet-out-of-hours.90842/

It is not that simple. Vets in Nigeria are not common and not knowledgeable in guinea pigs.@tiana n tiny fly strike is mosquito larvae eating your piggy's internal organs and and spinal area. It is becomes fatal within 24 hrs, you must take your piggy to the emergency vet immediately. If your regular vet is in Nigeria then use any vet from his office or try a new vet or take piggy to the animal shelter clinic and ask them to help you. Any competent vet knows about fly strike. Please do it now, if it really is fly strike, then your piggy is dying a horrible death
He does not live with his parents and many people will not bother to care for sick animals if it is not their pet. He is doing his best.@tiana n tiny Please ask your parent to post to us, if you're a minor. I can work with them to help your piggy. If you are not a minor, please advise me. Flystrike is very common in Africa, I think you have a good idea of the problem. Now we have to solve it. I am going to try to find you a good vet in Benin State. Show this thread to your parent now, please
