I know he only arrived yesterday but as he was comfortable out and about at breakfast time, I decided to see how he'd feel about a short lap time this afternoon with only me in the room.
It went well, he was fairly easy to catch and once he was on my lap he tucked into a toilet roll of hay that I had placed there. I gave him a few scratches around his ears and cheeks and often he moved towards my hand and leaned into it for more whenever I stopped.
He also strolled around my lap and turned to get a good look at me, climbing up me towards my face.
He made me nervous a few times as he snuffled along my arms...I was afraid he may nip or bite as I have NO history on this guy and no idea how often he was handled before. But he only licked.
After lap time which was only about 10 mins, I placed him back in the cage and since then he has been happily eating out in the open and no longer hides when I am walking past or hang around nearby. SO it seems he has decided that despite being big, I am not all that scary...and I have food.
I don't have any pictures of the first lap time as I didn't want to spook him with a camera.
