Hi all,

One of my closest friends has this morning found her last remaining old lady with fly eggs on her, she was rushed to the vets and had these removed along with the shame of having her rear end shaved. We think she got dealt with quick enough as they weren't maggots just yet... Full cage clean etc and fly spray has been used, will be done again at 6am when she gets up for work.

Poor old lady is over 7 years old now and has recently gained a little extra weight so hoping she's well enough to pull through as she was healthy for her age. Just wondered, other than the usual keeping an eye out, regular checks and cleaning, whether anyone had any extra tips to aid recovery?

There's probably a reason for her not keeping herself clean, it could be something like being over weight (cannot reach), arthritis (too painful to reach), digestive upset (loose polo/diarrhoea) etc.

She has a bout of cystitis at the moment as well which she has had a couple of times in the previous years. Could this be a cause?

It could be if she has been sat in her wee for ages and was all wet and messy.
