Food advice please.

My guinea pigs have been on Gerty guinea pig food for quite a long time now but I've read on here that it's not that good for them and I do find that they leave quite a lot of it so I am looking to change their food to something else. I've read the reviews and the Supa Guinea pig excel seems to get good reviews and also the Burgess Supa guinea pig so I am thinking of changing them to one of these although not sure which one.:{

Will it take them a few weeks to get used to another food and if they don't like it straight away shall I just persevere?/
 
Why about trying the excel? Although I've heard it is slightly high in calcuim as it made with alfalfa? :S The best thing to do I think is mix a bit of the old and a bit of the new so you are changing over gradually?
 
Yes I will do that cos I know you shouldn't just change animals from one food to another one.:) I will give the Excel a try then. Thanks Cashmincal.:)
 
I agree with mixing them together, gradually increasing the new food and decreasing the old.

I use Burgess Supa Guinea Excel and mine love it :)
 
Hmm I wonder if I should get one of each and see which they prefer?:{

mine has excel too! he was on gerty guinea pig and vwet suggested I change to food that all looks the same as they pick at the stuff they like and dont get all their nutrients. I gradually changed and now he loves it! :))
 
Well we went to pets at home and they only had the Burgess Supa Guinea pig excel so we got three 2kg bags of that cos they had a 3 for 2 offer on it.:) Just hope they get to like it.:))
