i have 14 g.p and they were all fed on g.p Excel for a long tome. However as the prices have gone up and with so many i have changed them on to Pets at Home food. It is a muesli that is 15kg and cost about £12.50ish.
Anyway a lot of my pigs have got mites which i am treating them for.

Do you think it's the change in food that could have done it. Should i change them back or is there a better but cheaper food than Excel?

I wasn't aware that food could cause mites... but I think it's right to say that all guineas have mites on them and then something can cause them to flare up, such as stress or illness?

I use Ivomec on my lot.

I feed mine Beartts Golden Guinea which is a mix food, the quality of it does vary though, sometimes it looks great and other times can be dusty. It's about £10 for 20kg. Or I feed Wagg mix which is about £11 for 15kg.

I think Excel is supposed to be a really good food but it is expensive when you've got so many!

thanks, i am currently treating mine in Ivomec. I think it's strange how they have come out in it as nothing has changed so don't see why thye could have got stressed. Anyway will get rid of the mites and hope they astay away.

See you soon Sophie for my new challage! lol

HI Tanya, how are Matha and Rose?

I haven't changed hay but i think it's only Lice that come on Hay rather than mites, I think they all carry the mites but they only affect them when they are stressed or ill.

I must have got the two confused lol, in that case i have never heard of food causing mites, i think your right about when there ill, rose had them a few weeks ago due to stress of her bladder problem :(

They are both doing well, rose still has bladder issues but i think i'm slowly getting her better :)

I don't think the food has caused the Mites but was wandering as it's not such good qulity that maybe this has cuased them to be run down hense the Mite coming?
