As some of you may know, Ella has a sore mouth from having her incisor removed less than two weeks ago. It’s proving to be a tough recovery but she’s slowly starting to eat again but not hay. I have been grating her cucumber and carrot and she’s started to have a nibble and she can manage a little dandelion leaf, lettuce, melon and grape. But I’m wary of feeding her too much fruit and causing soft poos on an already sensitive tummy. What else can I try feeding? Veg that isn’t too hard and can be grated would be great. I’ve tried pepper but it doesn’t grate well x

Sweet potato and carrot grate well.
Shredded lettuce & chicory
Would her tummy cope with some raw oats mixed in ?
I have often put a little dish of Oxbow aniseed flavour critical care in the cage - it’s my lot’s favourite.
The other piggies will all help eat it but Ella would get some at least.

Thank you. I’ll try sweet potato, celery and chicory. I’ve offered her porridge oats and her Emeraid / mushed up nuggets in a bowl in the cage and she won’t touch it 😞 but I’ll give it another try x

Fussy creatures aren’t they.
I offered mine the apple & banana flavoured cc for a change once - they all turned up their noses at it.

They certainly are fussy! Elizabeth and Esme have been eating the mushed nuggets 🤦‍♀️ Vet has told me to offer her soft foods but I’m struggling getting the right balance as although I want to feed her anything she’ll eat, I don’t want to cause a tummy upset x

How is she with mint? The leaves are relatively soft. I don't know what lettuce you're feeding, but I find butterhead (or round, as some places call it) to be softer than gem or romaine.

Thank you. She doesn’t like mint but has just had some dill. I’ll try her with a softer lettuce as I’ve been feeding little gem x
