Questions from a soon to be new owner.

I'm hoping to have some piggies in a few months time but want to be prepaired way in advance.
I currenly own a number of rats who's dry food is made up of a mix I do myself. I was wondering if any of these could or should not be added to dry mix for guinea pigs.

Pig nuts, barley rings, mixed seeds
The veg they like most like are brocilo and kale both veggies I hate.
I perfer carrots.

I won't of course be feeding them the same mix as the rats but as my rats do so well on a mix I made myself I was hoping I could do the same for the Guinea Pigs.

Also I'm a little confused on whether nuggets or museil would be best to use as well.

Pellets are the best type of dry food as it stops the pigs selective feeding.
Guinea pigs should not eat seeds as they are fattening and can cause them to choke.

Yes, it's best to start them on pellets so they are not selective. These should only make up about 5% of their diet with veggies (approx. a cup a day each) making 15% & unlimited hay or fresh grass making the other 80%.

Carrots, cucumber, celery, romaine or cos lettuce, peppers (not chillis), coriander, garden mint, melon (inc. skin) plus small amounts of parsley, kale, spinach, apple & tomatoes.
