I'm unsure on how much muesli to feed my boys (they will soon be weaned on to nuggets), I've read different things, some people say that food should be unlimited and others say that a guinea pig should get no more than 50g of food a day.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Mine get a small handful (nuggets) morning and evening. Hay is unlimited.

I think the 30-50g is just a number the manufacturers throw in to make you buy more food.

Younger piggies should have unlimited amounts though.

Unrestricted pellets can be given until they reach a year old. I asked a similar question about whether restriction should be when they reach a certain weight or age and was told restrict at approx 1 year old.

Callie's previous owner had her for 6 mos so she should be about a year old. I'm giving her 1-2 oz of pellets, 4-5 nibble rings(good 4 teeth)w/ pellets. I'm working on veggies since they didn't feed her that obviously. Mixin romaine w/ pellets and trying sweet bell peppers next. She loves fruit of course. I get these "orange slices" at the pet store. Good for her minus the acid. Hay 24/7 and she loves it!
