Hello,

Firstly, I live in an area of New York with an extremely slim array of options for vets. No emergency vets see guinea pigs, and each of the few exotic vet options are closed for Christmas tomorrow. My Bercy is doing this aggressive almost chewing motion and flexing his cheeks very wide meanwhile, he has done this in the past here and there but usually will spit out a little chunk of chewed up hay and carry on. He eats very quick so I’m assuming there is something in his molars as usual that he cannot get out (it’s been hours). Luckily he is still squeaking, drinking, eating, begging for food etc., but I am just looking for advice on how to check inside his mouth. I tried taking a peek, but of course this is a two-person job. I have Q-tips handy for when my boyfriend comes over shortly to help me with him and of course if this continues I will bring him to my vet first thing Thurs. morning. Any advice for now? (I added a photo, although he looks very happy/smiley in it)

Hello @Wetherill I’m sorry your Bercy is having this problem.
I’m also sorry but I have no experience of this - a dampened cotton bud sounds a good idea or a soft baby toothbrush ?
Hopefully you can dislodge whatever is stuck there.
Good luck and I’m sure someone will come along with some advice
