I will obviously stand by my previous comments as we discussed earlier. Avoid muesli type feeds.
As well as the selective feeding issue, the ingredients in this are not good - straw pellets, wheat, flaked peas, maize, and alfalfa. The Timothy hay content of it is so far down the ingredients list.
You ideally look to a plain pellet where Timothy hay or grass is the first ingredient on the list with none/or a very limited amount of grains included

thank you i feel a bit annoyed at pets at home for selling it because i always tend to think of their products as high quality and good for your pets but i will definately be more cautious in future

Often times pet store employees are not trained in animal care; they’re trained to sell products, much like any other shop employee. They’re definitely not a reliable source for pet information. Even the little packets they hand out to new owners are decades behind the times (at least in US chain stores—never been to a p@h).

Researching from a reliable, science/experience-based source is your best bet for ethical information. :)

Definitely get some good quality pellets for your pigs, avoid muesli mix. I only feed muesli mix to my pigs as a treat or hide a small amount in hay for them to 'find'.

I would say considering PAH’s stand on piggies I wouldn’t trust everything they say or sell. I don’t think they’ve updated their research with regards them else they wouldn’t be making the muesli at all now. And they also sell small cages that are labelled suitable for piggies. I think the better quality things are those that aren’t PAH branded. Just my opinion but it really put me off when I spoke to one of assistants in there about their piggies.

PS the only good things I’ve bought in there are the cardboard tubes and the beds. I did buy shavings but there were big pieces in there and also some plastic or something foreign.

I agree, I once bought a hamster from there and the assistant dropped her on the floor when handling her and we were sold a tiny cage and we eventually returned her :(
However, their toy range is quite good for the Guinea Pigs :)

My boy Finn and Lara get more than a cup and a half of veggies daily so sometimes, they don’t need pellets.
They get endless supply of Oxbow hay along with their veggies.
