I was wondering apart from the usuall food and veggies like carrots and cucumber is there any other things i can give my piggies so its different all the time? Is cellery any good? what other things can piggies eat...ps I'm loving this site, I didnt realise people loved guinea pigs so much lol its nice to see that a lot of people have them, i think they are so adorable and my daughters love having cuddles... I have read some posts and poeple are talking bout their piggies as if they are children lol its lovely that they are all loved.......... :smitten:

I give mine celery every day as they love it to bits... I de string the celery before hand though and chop it up as i was told the strings can cause damage to piggies if caught in their throat i think?

Mine love peppers and banana (only on occasion though!) they love root veg so they can get their teeth into it...

There is a list of foods in the food section that you can go through as well!

I give one green veg per serving so romaine lettuce or spinach and then 4 other servings. Little often is better. Have a look at the food area there are loads of ideas there. :)

i hear peppers are good as well? Banana? what is roamine lettuce?

Peppers are fab 1/8th of a green pepper is enough vit c for a whole day mine get that per day. Banana may cause tummy problems so just a little every couple of weeks but I don't feed it. Apples, pears, melons and grapes (halved) is the fruit I feed.

Romaine lettuce is the long leafed lettuce. :)

Banana, with its skin, can cause constipation so should be fed sparingly if you piggies like it :)

If you go to the food section of the forum, there is a guinea pig shopping list at the top explaining all the food piggies can and can't have. I printed it out and it now lives on my fridge. I am currently half way down it O0

Never feed potatoes, iceberg lettuce or rhubarb. Think "safety" too when gathering wild plants. If in doubt, please leave it out, we don't want poorly tummies.

Remember that we love to chew. Small branches from apple/pear trees or hazel will be most welcome. Make them about 6" long, cut off any spiky bits and ensure they don't have any fungus on them. Leaves will be enjoyed too. We neatly eat all the bark off and it saves us knawing at our hutch interior.
